The future of the country and a territory of childhood: Yamal Days concluded at the National Centre RUSSIA
The themed days of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area have concluded at the National Centre RUSSIA. The programme included meetings with regional representatives, masterclasses in traditional crafts, the concert programme "Yamal — Energy of Unity", film screenings and educational events dedicated to the culture, nature and strategic development of one of the country’s key northern regions.
The central event was a meeting with the Governor of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area, Dmitry Artyukhov. He presented the development strategy "Region-2030. Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area". The Governor recalled the words of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, that the Arctic must be developed at an accelerated pace despite all external challenges and limitations. This region, he said, is the future of the country.
The Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area is creating all the necessary conditions for a happy and fulfilling childhood, as well as for the development of young people and families, Dmitry Artyukhov noted.
"Despite the frosts, Yamal has every opportunity to truly become the best territory of childhood for children. We are building new schools, kindergartens and dozens of sports complexes. Most importantly, the focus is on our children. We need to create good conditions for a large number of our children," Dmitry Artyukhov said.
He added that Yamal has strong demographic indicators, pays great attention to education, sport and science, is rapidly developing housing and social infrastructure, and ranks third in Russia in terms of the availability of doctors.
As part of the themed week, an agreement was signed between the Government of Yamal and the Association for the Development of Glamping Sites. Its purpose is to promote the region’s tourism potential among investors interested in building such facilities. One of the key areas will be the involvement of the association in implementing projects in the region based on best international practices.
The motivational meeting "Open Lesson in Leadership and Politics", held to mark the 120th anniversary of Russian parliamentarism, brought together senators of the Russian Federation, parliamentarians of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area, members of the Youth Parliament and students. The Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of Yamal, Sergei Yamkin, noted that next year Yamal parliamentarism will mark its 95th anniversary and recalled the contribution of the deputies of the first convocation to the modern legislative body of the region.
The meeting also included the interactive session "Artefacts. The Story of One Object", during which speakers shared stories about meaningful personal items such as talismans or family heirlooms, as well as an open discussion with students about the future of Russia and Yamal.
The concert programme "Yamal — Energy of Unity" brought leading creative groups and performers of the region together on one stage. Audiences saw dance performances featuring national attributes and musical instruments, choreographic pieces, and folk songs in the languages of the indigenous peoples of the North.
The Yamal week concluded with a series of masterclasses and a creative meeting with writers from the region. Guests explored the basics of bone-carving art, created traditional Nenets jewellery with their own hands, and learned more about fairy-tale genres as well as the experience of collecting and writing contemporary literary works based on folk epic traditions.
The Days of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area were held at the National Centre RUSSIA from 10 to 15 February and continued the programme of themed regional days within the "Book of Fairy Tales" exposition. The following week will be dedicated to the Republic of Mordovia. Visitors can explore the culture, legends and epic heroes of the region, listen to fairy tales and see unique exhibits from other constituent entities of the Russian Federation free of charge with prior registration on the website russia.ru.
