Digital shipyard, industry, and tourism: Artur Parfenchikov on Karelia’s development — in an interview to the National Centre RUSSIA
Karelia is steadily progressing in the key areas of its
development — from relocating residents from dilapidated housing and renewing
social infrastructure to launching high-tech industries and enhancing the
region's tourist appeal. This was discussed by the Head of the Republic of
Karelia, Artur Parfenchikov, in an exclusive interview with the National Centre
RUSSIA.
Key topics of the conversation included a new stage of the
programme for relocating residents from dilapidated housing; the launch of the
country's first digital shipyard in Petrozavodsk and the formation of a digital
shipbuilding competence centre; the development of industry and infrastructure;
the construction of medical and educational facilities, as well as the
modernisation of the road network.
Furthermore, Artur Parfenchikov spoke about Karelia's key
growth areas — shipbuilding, mechanical engineering, instrument-making, timber
processing, the food industry, biotechnology and aquaculture, tourism
development and the UNESCO sites, the significance of the unity of the peoples
of Russia, and the role of the National Centre RUSSIA in promoting the
country's regions.
