Russian National Flag Day — a symbol of strength, unity, and the future

Russian National Flag Day — a symbol of strength, unity, and the future
08.22.2025

On 22 August, our country marks one of its most important state holidays — Russian National Flag Day. Established in 1994, it aims to strengthen patriotism and respect for the state symbols and history of our country. National Flag Day is a chance for every citizen of Russia to recall the nation’s past, pay tribute to its symbols, and express love and loyalty to the Motherland.

The Russian tricolour unites generations. White symbolises nobility and sincerity.

Blue stands for loyalty, honesty, and impeccability.

Red signifies courage, valour, and heroism. These three colours come together in a single banner that embodies the destiny and strength of our country.

The flag is there at the most important moments: it flies above state institutions, schools and universities, above sports arenas, theatre stages and ships. The Russian tricolour is painted on Russian aircraft, it is raised in honour of our athletes’ victories, and it appears wherever one word is spoken with pride — "Russia".

Today, the tricolour is a symbol of national pride and confidence in the future. It brings citizens together as one family and reminds us that Russia’s success is built on each person’s work, strength of spirit, and faith.

At the National Centre RUSSIA, this day is seen as a special occasion to remind us that people are the country’s greatest asset. Our knowledge, achievements, work and talent are what make the white, blue and red shine even brighter.

National Flag Day is a celebration that reminds us: Russia’s future is in our hands. May the tricolour always remain a symbol of the strength, unity, and great destiny of our country.
