On the eve of the International RUSSIA EXPO the management of the event shares interesting facts about the legendary symbol of VDNH — the sculpture "Worker and Kolkhoz Woman".

The idea to create the famous sculpture belonged to architect Boris Iofan. The author of the monument Vera Mukhina took into account all his wishes in the sketches. As a result, the project won the closed competition. Initially, the sculptor was inspired by ancient masterpieces and wanted to depict a worker and a kolkhoz woman naked. Only the scarf held by the kolkhoz woman was supposed to hide their nudeness. But in the end it was decided to dress the worker and the kolkhoz woman, but we can still see the scarf.

The statue is made of stainless steel and consists of 6 thousand individual elements. Its height is 24.5 metres and its weight is 185 tonnes. By the way, the figure of the kolkhoz woman is heavier and taller than the worker. In addition, the famous monument has become a symbol of "Mosfilm". But the official emblem of "Mosfilm" depicts not the real "Worker and Kolkhoz Woman", but a copy made of clay.

Let us remind you that from November 4 "Worker and Kolkhoz Woman" will meet guests of the International RUSSIA EXPO, which will be held at VDNH.
