Dmitry Chernyshenko: "Russia is experiencing a record level of investment in educational infrastructure"
On 3 October, the National Centre RUSSIA hosted the award ceremony for the winner and laureates of the All-Russian contest "Russia’s Teacher of the Year". The ceremony was attended by Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, and Sergei Kravtsov, Minister of Education of the Russian Federation.
The award ceremony took place as part of the large-scale Homeroom Teachers’ Forum, which brought together more than 1,000 activists in school education and supervisors of vocational education groups from 89 regions of Russia, as well as teachers from Abkhazia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Belarus, South Ossetia, Tajikistan, Armenia, and Uzbekistan.
"A school must not only provide advanced knowledge, but also help every young person to gain a solid foundation of values in life. These are the words of our President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. It is you, dear teachers and mentors, who not only educate but also guide our children, giving them the right direction in life," stressed Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation.
Dmitry Chernyshenko also expressed special gratitude to the Heroes of the special military operation. They have chosen the path of mentorship, and their courage, resilience and patriotism set the best example for young people, the Deputy Prime Minister noted.
"Our shared task is to ensure equal access to quality education throughout the country: from the largest cities to the most remote areas. The Government of Russia is working consistently on this, and under the national project 'Youth and Children' modern educational infrastructure is being created. Never in the history of our country has there been such large-scale investment specifically in educational infrastructure. Of course, it is not only the material base that matters, but also the moral dimension," added the Deputy Prime Minister.
The Minister of Education of the Russian Federation, Sergei Kravtsov, honoured the best teachers and announced the winner of the "Teacher of the Year 2025" category. The award went to Dmitry Balanchukov, a teacher of Chinese and English from the Belgorod region.
The winner received the large "Crystal Pelican" award and 1 million roubles. All participants of the final stage received honorary diplomas and badges of distinction bearing the contest’s symbol.
The All-Russian Homeroom Teachers’ Forum went by very quickly, noted Sergei Kravtsov. However, in that time, he said, participants had managed to share experience and discuss all the important and pressing issues.
"Dear teachers, it is a great honour for me to be among those who shape the future of our country, because the way our children grow up will determine what Russia will be tomorrow. I am confident that each of you, everyone sitting in this hall, has every right to feel proud of your work. You deserve it. I congratulate you on the forthcoming Teacher’s Day!" concluded Maxim Dreval, Director General of the Russian society Znanie.
The 5th All-Russian Homeroom Teachers’ Forum took place at the National Centre RUSSIA from 1 to 3 October in an open format. It was the main event of the Big Teacher’s Week, which will conclude on 5 October with World Teachers’ Day.
