Mikhail Degtyarev to launch the All-Russian Sports Dictation at the National Centre RUSSIA
On 5 October, the All-Russian Sports Dictation — an educational initiative organised by the Russian Olympic Committee and the Ministry of Sport of Russia — will begin across all 89 regions of the country. The key venue will be the National Centre RUSSIA. The Dictation will be launched by Mikhail Degtyarev, Minister of Sport and President of the Russian Olympic Committee.
"I am confident that sport is always about emotion, drive, and the desire to become better. The Sports Dictation is a great way to test yourself and recall the stories of our legendary athletes. The National Centre RUSSIA supports such initiatives because this is where people gather who are inspired by energy and movement. Join us — it will be exciting!" said Anastasia Zvyagina, Deputy Director General of the National Centre RUSSIA.
The Sports Dictation will take place simultaneously in all 89 regions of Russia. More than 800 venues will open at universities, schools, sports palaces, fitness clubs, parks and libraries. Over 45 minutes, participants will answer 25 questions about the history of the Olympic Games, the rules of different sports, and the achievements of Russian athletes. The test can be taken both in person and online on the portal. In total, more than 71,000 applications have already been submitted.
As part of the All-Russian Sports Dictation, the National Centre RUSSIA will welcome Vitaly Smirnov, Honorary Member of the International Olympic Committee; Andrei Kirilenko, President of the Russian Basketball Federation; Ilgar Mamedov, President of the Russian Fencing Federation; Anton Sikharulidze, President of the Russian Figure Skating Federation; six-time Olympic champion Lidiya Skoblikova; three-time Olympic synchronised swimming champions Svetlana Kolesnichenko and Maria Kiselyova; Olympic rhythmic gymnastics medallists Yana Batyrshina and Anastasia Nazarenko; and other renowned athletes.
Regional Ministers of Sport, who will be attending the Ministry’s strategic session on that day, will also join the event via video link.
On 3 October, we mark the 130th anniversary of the birth of Sergei Yesenin — the poet who became the true voice of the Russian soul.
