The days of the Voronezh region at the National Centre RUSSIA concluded with a bright performance by the ensemble "Voronezh Girls"
The final highlight of the Days of the Voronezh Region at the National Centre RUSSIA was the performance of the folk song and dance ensemble "Voronezh Girls". The concert "Only One Russia" took place on 14 September for audiences eager to experience the region’s rich vocal and choreographic traditions. Founded in 1966 at the Voronezh Philharmonic, the ensemble is a laureate of international and all-Russian contests and performs under the direction of Honoured Artist of Russia Anna Kovrigina.
At the National Centre RUSSIA, the ensemble performed Russian women’s lyrical songs as well as folk and original works, including "Voronezh — My Motherland", "Semenovna", "Valenki", "I Will Sow Orache", Yevgeny Doga’s "Waltz", and "Farewell of Slavianka". The concert programme also featured choreographic pieces, instrumental music, and romances.
"For our ensemble, it was a great honour to represent our region in the cultural programme of the Week of the Voronezh Region at the National Centre RUSSIA within the exposition 'Region-2030. Platform of the Future'. In our performance, we presented a bright, multifaceted, and diverse programme with dance and instrumental numbers, and we congratulated Muscovites and visitors to the capital on City Day," said Yulia Sapelkina, soloist of the ensemble "Voronezh Girls", in an interview with the press office of the National Centre RUSSIA.
She thanked the audience for their warm welcome and generous applause.
"The ensemble 'Voronezh Girls' represents the Voronezh region with dignity both in Russia and abroad. Our repertoire is based on the rich folklore of the Central Black Earth Region, popular Russian folk and original songs, with a special place given to the women’s lyrical song — deeply heartfelt and uniquely beautiful, resonating with listeners of all generations," continued Yulia Sapelkina. "Such events as the exposition 'Region-2030. Platform of the Future' give every artist the chance to proudly present the creative legacy of our remarkable region."
The "Voronezh Girls" have a history of nearly sixty years, during which the ensemble has toured more than forty countries, performing on some of the world’s most prestigious stages. Their vivid voices, expressive stage presence, and distinctive performance style made the concert a true highlight of the Days of the Voronezh Region and showcased the region’s rich cultural legacy to a wide audience in the capital.
