Edgard Zapashny told about a unique nature park in Crimea
Edgard
Zapashny, People's Artist of Russia, at the RUSSIA EXPO spoke about the
creation of the Taigan Nature Park for animals in Crimea.
"Even
since the times of the Soviet Union, there has not been a real nature park for
animals in our country. There are natural areas, there are many of them, they
are preserved. But there was unfortunately no place where people could quietly
come with the whole family and safely get acquainted with interesting animals,
many of which are listed in the Red Book. And now such a place has been created
in Crimea. The uniqueness of the park lies in the fact that a large number of
animals in a beautiful natural area get along with each other," Edgard
Zapashny is sure.
The founder and director of the Taigan Park Oleg Zubkov shared a story about the fate of animals that were brought to Crimea from zoos of the new regions in 2022.
"All the animals were brought by me personally. By order of the Governor of the Kherson region Vladimir Vasilyevich Saldo, we had to take the animals to the island of Maly Potemkin in the Kherson region. When the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant was blown up, an eight-meter wave covered this island, and, of course, these animals would have faced imminent death. The raccoons are alive, they have proliferated and at any time are ready to return to Kherson, to their native zoo, together with the she-wolves and other animals. For this purpose, we need the desire of local authorities and places where they can be accommodated," said Oleg Zubkov.
