Christmas tree of Karachay-Cherkessia: rams, cups and national ornaments
The fir tree of the republic is decorated in the recognizable style of the peoples of the North Caucasus and reflects the material culture of the people: products made of wool, dolls in national costumes, images of rams, horses, horn cups inlaid with metal, large garlands in the style of national ornaments, an abundance of gold.
Especially noticeable in the design of the Christmas tree are figures of rams.
Since ancient times sheep breeding has been the most important part of life in these places.
The Karachay breed of sheep was selected as a result of many years of efforts of the Karachay people living in the North Caucasus, none of the existing breeds were used in the process. Flocks of sheep provided people with food, clothes and household items.
On the Main Alley of VDNH visitors are greeted by New Year fir trees, each representing a region of the country. The RUSSIA EXPO is open from Tuesday through Sunday, Monday is a technical day. The most convenient time to visit is in the mornings and weekdays, but the exposition is open to everyone on weekends as well. All expositions and events are free of charge.
A festive concert marking the centenary of the Artek International Children's Centre was held at the National Centre RUSSIA.
For four months, children and teenagers aged 9 to 17 took part in the Young Tour Guides School at the National Centre RUSSIA.
