New Year tree of the Krasnoyarsk region: Siberian forest and a flock of bullfinches
The decoration of the New Year tree represents a winter Siberian forest with snow-covered rowan branches, where red-breasted bullfinches have landed on the fir tree, and blushing Siberian beauties in traditional folk costumes look out between the branches.
The decorations are made by Biryusinka, one of the few companies in Russia that has managed to preserve the ancient traditions of glass Christmas ornament production.
All products are hand-blown with the help of kerosene burners by glass-blowing craftsmen, or rather craftswomen - mostly women work in the enterprise.
After the glassblowing section, each glass toy falls into the hands of an artist. The artist paints the glass toy by hand and that is why each toy is special.
On the Main Alley of VDNH visitors are greeted by 89 New Year trees, each of them representing a region of the country.
The RUSSIA EXPO is open from Tuesday through Sunday, Monday is a technical day. The best time to visit is in the mornings and weekdays, but the exposition is open to everyone on weekends as well. All expositions and events are free of charge.
