New Year tree of the Republic of Buryatia: ornamental mystery and folk music
Traditional ornaments stand out in the decoration of the green beauty of the region — Buryat folk ornament has many common features with the ornaments of nomadic and semi-nomadic peoples of Central Asia and Southern Siberia.
Most Buryat ornaments are constructed according to the law of rhythmic sequence, with geometric shapes prevailing. As in the ornaments of other peoples, Buryat ornaments encrypt the most ancient ideas of the people about the relationship between nature and man.
The appearance of a large number of signs-symbols in Buryat ornamental art is connected with the spread of Buddhism in Transbaikalia. Ornaments in the form of a stylized temple also remind of Buddhist traditions.
Buryat craftsmen made items for the New Year tree that reflect the national costume and other elements of everyday life of the Buryat people. Folk musical instruments are also represented here.
On the Main Alley of VDNH visitors are greeted by New Year fir trees, each representing a region of the country. The RUSSIA EXPO is open from Tuesday to Sunday, Monday is a technical day. The most convenient time to visit is in the mornings and weekdays, but the exposition is open to everyone on weekends as well. All expositions and events are free of charge.
Visitors to the National Centre RUSSIA can savor the southern cuisine of Crimea at the Gastronomic Rows.
The Day of Crimea’s Reunification with Russia is celebrated on March 18.
