Christmas tree of the Republic of Tuva: Tibetan knot of happiness and the legacy of the Huns
The decoration of the fir tree features very large Tuvan ornaments made by craftsmen from Tuva.
Ornaments are an important part of the traditional culture of Tuva, a region in Central Asia. They are not only decoration, but also symbols for the Tuvan people. On the fir tree you can find a symbol of wealth and prosperity - the Tibetan knot of happiness.
The abundance of gold color in the decoration reminds us that Tuva is the ancestral home of such ancient peoples as the Scythians, Huns, Turks, whose burial mounds, stone sculptures and steles with inscriptions are scattered throughout its territory, and of the Scythian gold, which is in the National Republic Museum in Kyzyl.
On the Main Alley of VDNH visitors are greeted by New Year fir trees, each of them representing a region of the country.
The RUSSIA EXPO is open from Tuesday through Sunday, Monday is a technical day. The most convenient time to visit is in the mornings and weekdays, but the exposition is open to everyone on weekends as well. All expositions and events are free of charge.
During the all-Russian survey "What does the Motherland begin with?", people across the country are answering this question in their own way, opening up the innermost corners of their souls.
Souvenir nevalyashkas (traditional Russian roly-poly dolls), are attracting particular attention, with guests choosing them for their harmonious combination of Russian colour and traditional Chinese symbols.
Under the guidance of artisans, each guest made an unusual souvenir that can become either a personal talisman or a gift with a special story.
