On the streets of Moscow, you can already see the new-generation KAMAZ-52222 electric buses, which operate on 11 city routes. In early August, the capital launched the 220th route of this eco-friendly transport.

The new electric buses are equipped with an improved climate control system, and the middle and rear doors now open outwards, freeing up additional space in the cabin. The main advantages of this transport are the absence of harmful emissions, a low noise level compared to diesel buses, and independence from the overhead contact system, which allows routes to be changed flexibly without large-scale infrastructure modifications.

Eco-friendly Moscow Transport at the "Journey Across Russia" Exposition

At the "Journey Across Russia" exposition at the National Centre RUSSIA, visitors can see how the capital’s eco-friendly transport system is developing.

In addition to electric buses, tram services in Moscow are actively being revived — the city’s tram network is one of the largest in the world. In May 2024, Russia’s first driverless tram was launched here.

Another important area is the development of river transport. Since 2023, the capital has restored regular river services, including the world’s first regular route for electric river transport.

"In the capital, two river terminals operate, and the Sinichka trams run all year round. At our exposition, you can take a virtual trip along the Moskva River on such an electric vessel. They are assembled entirely in Russia: the electric motor, hull, and control software are domestically produced," said Oksana Morozova, a guide at the National Centre RUSSIA.

Today, Moscow has three electric river transport routes: "Kievsky — Fili Park", "ZIL — Pechatniki", and "Novospassky — ZIL". A total of 27 modern vessels operate on these routes.
