"Movies about the Main Thing": the legendary film "Moscow — Cassiopeia" will be shown at the RUSSIA EXPO on May 4
On May 4,
in the congress hall of Pavilion No. 75 at the RUSSIA EXPO, another screening
of the "Movies about the Main Thing" cycle will take place at 17:00.
Guests will be able to see the science fiction film "Moscow — Cassiopeia" directed by Richard Viktorov. The partner of the show is the
Gosfilmfond — the main archive and keeper of Russian films.
The movie
was released in 1973, and a year later the second part of the dilogy was added
to it under the title "Teens in the Universe". The film "Moscow
— Cassiopeia" won the prize of the International Science Fiction Film
Festival in Trieste, a prize at the Moscow International Film Festival, the
Platero Award at the Gijon International Film Festival for Children and Youth.
They are still relevant today, half a century after their release.
The classic
of Russian science fiction, writer Kir Bulychev called Richard Viktorov, the
author of the films, "the chief of science fiction in our cinema".
The director passed away early, but he managed to do a lot for the development
of the science fiction genre in the domestic cinematography.
Technical
findings of Richard Viktorov's team were highly appreciated by Western
filmmakers, including director Steven Spielberg and the creator of special
effects in "Star Wars" and "Spider-Man" John Dykstra.
The
moderator of the screening will be Evgeny Kharitonov, head of literary projects
of the Russian State Library for Youth, writer, historian of literature and
cinema. And as a special guest Anna Viktorova, the director's daughter,
actress, who played one of the key roles in the movie, will attend the meeting.
Before the screening, the guests will learn how Richard Viktorov created his
movie masterpieces, how the filming of the legendary dilogy took place, and
what happened to the performers of the main roles.
