Heroine of legends and myths: the Mistress of the Copper Mountain welcomes guests to the "Journey Across Russia" exposition
The National Centre RUSSIA is hosting the large-scale exposition "Journey Across Russia," showcasing all the federal districts of our country. In honor of March 8, we introduce guests to the female figures presented at the exposition. For instance, at the Ural exposition, you can meet the heroine of legends and myths —the mysterious and powerful Mistress of the Copper Mountain.
A tour of the Ural exposition is a journey into the earth's depths. Descending in an interactive elevator, guests enter a mysterious cave — the realm of the Mistress of the Copper Mountain, also known as the spirit of the Ural Mountains. She usually appears as a young woman in a malachite dress or takes the form of a lizard with a crown on her head. This character became widely known due to the fairy-tale cycle of writer Pavel Bazhov.
It is believed that the Mistress of the Copper Mountain decides who among people is worthy to touch the riches of the earth. The Ural sorceress values hard work and protects those who are pure of heart. However, if the Mistress of the Copper Mountain notices cruelty and greed in people's hearts, she will try to hide her treasures from them.
During the tour of the exposition, guests can learn more about the gemstone belt of the Urals, Ural folklore and legends, and also take a photo on the throne of the Mistress of the Copper Mountain.
Entry to the exposition "Journey Across Russia" is free as part of tour groups, which are formed by prior registration on the website russia.ru in the "Events" section.
