The anniversary of the reunification of Crimea and Sevastopol with Russia at the RUSSIA EXPO ended with an address by Vladimir Putin
The RUSSIA
EXPO hosted the "Sevastopol Symphony" concert. The event included a
broadcast of the rally-concert on Red Square, timed to the tenth anniversary of
the reunification of Crimea and Sevastopol with Russia. It was attended by
Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"Crimea
is not only a strategically important territory, it is not only our history,
our traditions and the pride of Russia. Crimea is first of all people:
Sevastopol residents, Crimeans. They are our pride. They have carried their
faith in the Fatherland through the decades, they have never separated themselves
from Russia. And this is what allowed Crimea to return to being part of our
common family," the Kremlin press office quoted Vladimir Putin as
saying.
"But
as for Novorossiya, as for Donbass: the people living there back then, in the
days of the 'Russian Spring,' also declared their desire to return to their
native family. Their journey back to their Motherland turned out to be much
more difficult and tragic. But nevertheless, we did it, and this is also a
great event in the history of our state. Now we are progressing and walking
together, feeling each other's elbows. Just this morning I was informed that
the railroad from Rostov to Donetsk, to Mariupol and Berdyansk has been
restored. We will continue this work, and soon railroad trains will go directly
to Sevastopol. And this will be another alternative road - instead of the
Crimean bridge. This is how we will go forward together, hand in hand. It is
this - not in words, but in deeds - that makes us really stronger. And all this
is happening thanks to you, the citizens of Russia," said Vladimir Putin.
During the
concert at the RUSSIA EXPO, the Sevastopol Symphony Orchestra conducted by
Merited Cultural Worker of Russia Vladimir Kim and the State Kremlin Orchestra
performed "Sevastopol Symphony" by composer Boris Tchaikovsky. In
addition, Dmitry Shostakovich's Festive Overture, the third movement of Sergei
Rachmaninoff's Symphony No. 2 and the anthem of the city of Sevastopol
"Legendary Sevastopol" were performed.
The
performance was accompanied by unique archive footage of the events of the
"Russian Spring". In addition, the artists read out the memories of
Sevastopol residents who in 2014 stood up in defence of their native city and
the entire Russian world.
In the course of the concert, a teleconference was organized, during which a video about the celebration of the tenth anniversary of the reunification of Crimea and Sevastopol with Russia at the Exposition was broadcast on Red Square. It showed the festive procession "Crimea - Sevastopol - Russia FOREVER", the plenary session "Together into the Future: 10 Years of the Russian Spring" held by the Director General of the ANO «Directorate of the Exhibition of Achievements "Russia"» Natalia Virtuozova, as well as festive decoration of expositions.
