"Voices of the Country": the play "Ocean Within" at the RUSSIA EXPO on March 22
On March 22, the Main Stage of Pavilion No. 84 "House
of Culture" will host a performance of the play "Ocean Within"
by director Alexander Pronkin. The play will be a part of Konstantin
Bogomolov's author's project "Voices of the Country". The main role
in the production will be played by Dmitry Chebotarev. The shows will take
place at 18:00 and 20:00. Admission is free, by pre-registration on the
website.
Artistic director of the project Konstantin Bogomolov is
convinced that the need for a modern hero and description of contemporary life
is always relevant.
"The need for a modern hero and the description of
contemporary life has always been, is and will be there. Theater always talks
to the audience about the present - even when it turns to the classics. This
project is an attempt to find the hero of our time through the form of
documentary theater. There were a lot of applications, very different people
sent their biographies or even whole essays. Selecting only 12 stories from
them was a delicate and intuitive work. But it is done in co-creation. I am the
head of the project, and each story is independently worked on by directors,
playwrights, photographers. And each monologue of a hero is a separate
performance. We will tell the stories of heroes whose lives are filled with
love, joy, dreams, meaning and purpose," said Konstantin Bogomolov.
The hero of the play "Ocean Within" is 36-year-old
Alexander Osadchiev from Moscow. Alexander studied at boarding school and from
childhood was interested in books on biology and geography. Since 2009, the
hero has been working at the Institute of Oceanology of the Russian Academy of
Sciences on the development and updating of scientific knowledge about the
world ocean and its processes. For his achievements and successes in science,
Alexander was awarded the medal of the Russian Academy of Sciences in 2018 and
the Moscow Government Prize for Young Scientists in 2020. Alexander is actively
involved in popularizing oceanology among the younger generation and often
speaks at conferences. The role in the play will be performed by theater and
film actor Dmitry Chebotarev.
The play about Alexander Osadchiev was staged by playwright
Maria Malukhina and director Alexander Pronkin. The artist is Philip Shein.
"The casting for our fascinating hero was surprisingly
challenging, as not all artists were able to portray the scientist with such a
dense and interesting fate. But Dmitry Chebotarev was a 100% match. When our
team heard him read the text at the first meeting, we realized that he was the
one who could become the real voice of our hero. Dmitry's energy and
involvement will make the performance unforgettable, playful and very
subtle," said Alexander Pronkin.
"Voices of the country" is the author's project of
Konstantin Bogomolov, realized with the support of the Presidential Fund for
Cultural Initiatives. 12 documentary mono-performances at the RUSSIA EXPO will
tell the stories of ordinary people whose daily work changes our lives for the
better. Following the project, a book and a documentary movie will also be
published - they will include the stories of all the heroes, their photo shoots
and videotaped interviews.
The first event to be held at the Russia National Centre, which is being established by the order of President Vladimir Putin, will be the International Science Fiction Symposium and Exhibition "Inventing the Future". The symposium will take place from November 4 to 6.
Tomorrow, the International RUSSIA EXPO will conclude its work. From November 2023 to July 2024, it was visited by more than 18 million guests.
Every day, for eight months, the RUSSIA EXPO delighted guests and gave unforgettable emotions.
