Governor Alexei Besprozvannykh: "We want to make the Kaliningrad region the best region in the country"
Support for
key sectors of the economy, the social sphere, infrastructure, and urban
development were identified as the main development priorities of the
Kaliningrad region by Governor Alexei Besprozvannykh during his address as part
of the project "Region-2030. Kaliningrad Region" at
the National Centre RUSSIA on 15 January.
One of the
main priorities, the head of the region said, is security and self-sufficiency
— ensuring that the region fully provides itself with the products it consumes.
According to Alexei Besprozvannykh, this has already been achieved for the main
groups of goods, while development programmes for agriculture and industry are
being formed and implemented in the remaining areas.
"The
second priority is the economy. <...> This year, according to forecasts,
our gross regional product will reach almost one trillion roubles. This is a
very serious and record-breaking figure in the entire history of the
Kaliningrad region. What does this give us? It leads to income growth and, as a
result, the opportunity to secure additional resources that can be directed
towards the development of the region, including the social sphere," the
Governor of the Kaliningrad Region noted.
The third
development priority, according to Alexei Besprozvannykh, is the family and
quality of life. Income generated through economic development is used to
strengthen the social dimension and improve living conditions in the region.
This includes support for families, healthcare, education, and other social
sectors that directly affect quality of life, he added.
"Another
important area for us is a comfortable living environment. <...> First
and foremost, this concerns the housing and utilities system — everything that
creates simple yet comfortable living conditions for people in the Kaliningrad
region. <...> The fifth overarching priority is balanced regional
development. <...> Resources will be allocated in such a way that
development is evenly distributed across all municipalities. It is important
for us to avoid a situation where residents begin moving from one municipality
to another simply because living conditions are more comfortable elsewhere. It
is essential that people feel comfortable throughout the entire region,"
Alexei Besprozvannykh explained.
Meetings
with the heads of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation are held
as part of the large-scale regional programme of the National Centre RUSSIA,
"Region-2030. Kaliningrad Region". The programme is
implemented in line with Russia’s national development goals defined by the
President and is based on the principle of prioritising the interests of each
individual, their self-realisation, and improvements in quality of life.
In
addition, Kaliningrad Region Days are taking place at the National Centre
RUSSIA from 12 to 18 January. As part of the thematic week, a business,
cultural, and educational programme has been planned with the participation of
the region’s senior officials.
