How Russia’s multi-ethnic history shaped the country’s future: Konstantin Kusmaul invites guests to the Lecture Hall at the National Centre RUSSIA
The
lecture "Whoever Writes the Past Controls the Future" will be held at
the National Centre RUSSIA on 28 August at 19:00. Writer and historian
Konstantin Kusmaul invites guests to discuss the role that the country’s
multi-ethnic character played in shaping the state.
"I will certainly address the crucial subject of our country’s
multi-ethnic history, the foundation on which it has existed since ancient
times. I will discuss the Volga Confederation, various other fascinating
foundations of our history, the Mongol legacy and the Eurasian origins of our
country, as well as issues surrounding the long-standing confrontation between
Russia and the West," Konstantin Kusmaul said, inviting guests to the
event.
The discussion will also feature Artyom Drabkin, Director of the "I
Remember" Foundation and member of the Academic Council of the Russian
Military Historical Society (RMHS), and Alexandra Konovchenko, Programme
Director of the RMHS. Together with the experts, guests will discuss how
perceptions of the past are created, the role historical narratives play in
them and why understanding Russia’s multi-ethnic history is important for
comprehending its present and future.
The event partners are the Russian Military Historical Society and the "I
Remember" Foundation.
