Whales, volcanoes, and taiga: the beauty of the Far Eastern nature at the National Centre RUSSIA
The large-scale project "Journey Across Russia" will launch at the National Centre RUSSIA in early March. This exposition will showcase the achievements and unique natural riches of all federal districts of our country. The unparalleled taiga and the mysterious Shantar Islands, the volcanoes and geysers of Kamchatka — here’s how the Far East will amaze visitors of the National Centre RUSSIA with its natural wonders.
In the north of the Far Eastern Federal District, one can encounter brown bears, wolverines, and Siberian stags, while in the south — tigers, black bears, and leopards. The forested area is home to relic ferns, the Komarov lotus, and tropical vines that entwine the trunks of cedars.
Visitors to the National Centre RUSSIA will have the opportunity to see a rookery of fur seals and the whales of the Shantar Islands. This unique place experiences dramatic weather shifts within a single day, from summer heat to winter cold, as the Shantar Islands combine two natural zones: taiga and tundra. The islands also feature a distinctive landscape with stone arches, towering cliffs, and rock formations resembling fortress towers.
Kamchatka will also take center stage. The exposition will showcase its volcanoes, the Valley of Geysers, a beach with dark volcanic sand, and Kuril Lake, home to one of the largest populations of brown bears.
The "Journey Across Russia" project will serve as a starting point for unlocking the full potential of our country. Guided tours will be held regularly and free of charge with prior registration on the website en.russia.ru. This large-scale project will bring together an exposition, a gastronomic space, the Department Store, vibrant cultural events, educational programs, and special projects.
The unusual art object was created by the National Centre RUSSIA together with the Government of the Tambov Region and the Kotovsk Nevalyashka Factory.
