A strong family is the region’s main capital: winners of the "Family of the Year of Yugra" contest announced
The results of the 12th district stage of the "Family of the Year of Yugra" contest have been summed up in Khanty-Mansiysk. The awards ceremony was held at the National Centre RUSSIA in Yugra. The awards were presented to the winners and prize-winners by Ruslan Kukharuk, Governor of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area — Yugra.
"Over the years the contest has been held, more than 1,600 families have taken part in it. For us, this is not just a contest; it is an opportunity to tell the story of the family traditions, values and experience that Yugra lives by. Everyone who has decided to open up their family’s story has already become a winner. Today, it is especially important to preserve and support families, create conditions for their development and speak about examples that become a reference point for others," Ruslan Kukharuk noted.
The good tradition of honouring family unions began in Yugra back in 2004 and gave families the opportunity to tell their stories, share traditions and show how family life takes shape in different parts of the district. This year, the contest for the title "Family of the Year of Yugra" was held for the 12th time and set a record for the number of participants: 61 families from the district’s municipalities reached the final.
The contestants were assessed in six nominations. "Young Family" is for couples under 35 who lead an active and healthy lifestyle. "Golden Family" is for spouses who have been married for at least 30 years and whose wisdom and loyalty serve as an example.
The "Family — Keeper of Traditions" nomination recognised family dynasties and those who carefully preserve the history of their family line. "Large Family" is for those raising three or more children. "Rural Family" brought together workers and keepers of the culture of the indigenous small-numbered peoples of the North. Finally, "Family of a Defender of the Fatherland" is a new nomination in 2026 for families of participants in the special military operation and combat veterans. It was included by analogy with the all-Russian contest "Family of the Year".
In total, 18 families from 12 municipalities of the region — the winners and prize-winners of the contest — were honoured at the National Centre RUSSIA in Yugra. Among them are families who preserve ancestral traditions, raise children, volunteer, develop territories, take part in public life and support their fellow residents.
The Akatyev family from Nyagan became the overall winner of the contest and holder of the title "Family of the Year of Yugra — 2026".
The spouses have been together for 37 years. Alexei Mikhailovich is a combat veteran and is now serving in the zone of the special military operation; he has received state and departmental awards. Inna Davlatovna has worked as an operating room nurse for more than 30 years, took part in the work of a field surgical hospital and was awarded the "Courageous" badge.
"The main achievement of our family is that we have one another and always stay together. Our children are by our side in difficult moments and joyful ones alike. We tried to pass on to them love, honesty, care for loved ones and the ability not to walk past someone else’s trouble. When we learned about the victory, we were surprised, because there are very many worthy families in Yugra," Inna Akatyeva shared.
Together, the spouses raised three children and take part in humanitarian initiatives and public life. Their eldest daughter, Yekaterina, heads the Centre for Personnel Solutions; Anna, like her mother, works in medicine; and the youngest, Alexei, takes part in patriotic campaigns. The Akatyev family has won the "Family of Volunteers" contest and helps in humanitarian missions. Through their example, they show that love and loyalty work wonders.
2026 has been declared the Year of the Young Family in Yugra. The contest once again confirmed that family traditions, mutual support, respect and participation in public life are the main values for the people of Yugra.
The winners and prize-winners of the district stage will represent Yugra at the all-Russian contest "Family of the Year", whose results will be announced in autumn 2026.
