Lectures on the scientific potential of the Primorye region from the FEB RAS at the RUSSIA EXPO

Scientists of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences will give lectures on the scientific and innovation potential of the Primorye region on April 26.
From 11:00 to 15:00 at the interactive platform "Far Eastern Panorama", scientists of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (FEB RAS) will talk about the breakthrough innovative areas in which work is being done today, as well as how Far Eastern science lives today, what it does to solve problems of socio-economic development of the region, to ensure comfortable and safe life of the population.
During the report "What and Why is Afraid of Water in Primorye?" visitors will learn about hydrophobic surfaces, namely superhydrophobic coatings on non-ferrous metals and alloys, which can be used in various fields of industry, medicine. And also, about their formation with the demonstration of the obtained coatings. What is a scientific Pacific voyage, how to prepare for it, who is an oceanologist will be covered by the employees of the FEB RAS at the lecture "Oceanologist and I, or Adventures in the Pacific Ocean".
Why chaos in the ocean is good, and how it helps to save people and find clusters of fish, who are repellers and attractors - guests of the Exposition will learn about this and many other things from the report of Far Eastern scientists "Chaos in the Ocean or the Ocean of Chaos". In addition, scientists from the FEB RAS will tell about the emergence of vortices -- cyclones and anticyclones, and how to find and study them.
The listeners of the report will also learn about the work of scientists-parasitologists both in the laboratory and in the field, about the peculiarities of circulation of the most important trematodes for humans. On the territory of the Russian Far East circulates a large number of epidemiologically significant species of economic importance, most of which are endemic (limited in their distribution). Both classical parasitological and molecular genetic methods are used to study them.
