On Pushkin Memorial Day, the staff of the Library of Foreign Literature presented "Inostranka" projects dedicated to the great poet and writer at the RUSSIA EXPO at VDNH. The second part of the event included literary readings of "The Tale of Tsar Saltan" in Russian, English, Spanish, German and French. Any guest of the RUSSIA EXPO could become a participant of the public readings.
The recitation of excerpts from the fairy tale was joined by students and teachers of the Institute of Slavic Culture of the Kosygin Russian State University, according to whom such events are good for young people because they uncover the richness of our culture: "...because Pushkin, like no one else, can tell in his works about the beauty of the Russian language, about the broad, comprehensive love of men for their Motherland, for each other. We will be glad to use this format at our institute so that students could recite poems of our favorite Russian authors in different languages of the world and tell the whole world about our culture".
At the interactive lecture "With Pushkin Around the World" the audience was told about the publications "Pushkin and France", collections of selected works of Pushkin in Russian/German and Russian/Tajik languages, about the conference "Interpreter in the XXI Century - a Factor of Cultural Dialog. Translation of Russian Language and Literature Through the Creation of New Translations of A.S. Pushkin's Works".
The "diplomatic public readings" - an online broadcast during which heads and representatives of diplomatic missions of different countries read Pushkin's poems translated into foreign languages and languages of the peoples of Russia - received a wide response. The poet's works united representatives of more than twenty different languages of the world.
The audience was also invited to participate in the Young Translator School, a key area of Inostranka's special project "World Bilingual Library of Modern Literature".
