More than five thousand people visited the Mari national holiday “Peledysh Payrem” at VDNH
More than five thousand people attended the Mari national holiday “Peledysh Payrem”, which was held at VDNH as part of the International RUSSIA EXPO.
“In more than 100 years, the holiday has become important, truly popular and truly multinational. And when I saw how people celebrate this holiday, how they rejoice, walk the streets, give each other flowers, show their crafts, I had no choice but to make this holiday official. So I congratulate you and want to thank you for supporting the culture of the Mari people. And we on the part of the government are trying to do our best to make as many people as possible aware of the Mari culture and the Mari land,”
Before the grand opening, the festive procession from the “Stone Flower” fountain to the Main Stage of the park was held. More than 500 people marched in one column.
The following artists performed before the residents and guests of the capital during the concert program: the State Dance Ensemble “Mari El”, leading soloists of the Mari State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre named after E. Sapaev, actors of the Mari National Drama Theatre named after M. Shketan, the State Orchestra of Folk Instruments “Mari Kundem” named after S. Elembaev and the All-Mari Children's Ensemble of Gusli Players, youth collectives of the Mari Republican College of Culture and Arts named after I.S. Palantai: folk song ensemble “Firebird” (“Tulgaiyk”), accordion ensemble, folk instruments orchestra, folk pop dance ensemble “Assorti”.
“Today's opportunity to walk through the main Exposition of the country, to show the national identity gives us an incredible uplift, overflowing feelings, everything is jubilant inside, and look at the joy of our Mari people,” Konstantin Ivanov, Deputy Chairman of the Government - Minister of Culture, Press and Nationalities of Mari El, told Moscow journalists about the holiday.
During the day the stand of Mari El hosted performances of creative youth groups “Vesela Kumyl”, “Morko Kundem”, “Shyzharvlӓ”, “Yul Sem”. Folk craftsmen organized masterclasses on embroidery, playing Mari national instruments, creating toys from vine.
For the first time “Peledysh Payrem” was held in 1920 in the village of Sernur. It was timed to coincide with the national calendar holidays Agavayrem (plow festival - Mari national holiday of spring sowing) and Semyk (national holiday marking the onset of summer).
The International RUSSIA EXPO opened on November 4, 2023 and will last until July 8, 2024. It is organized to showcase the country's achievements in various sectors of the economy. Since its opening, more than 14 million visitors have already attended the exposition.

The international project Open Dialogue "The Future of the World. New Platform for Global Growth" will be held at the National Centre RUSSIA.
The concert will take place in the Gastronomic Rows of the National Centre RUSSIA as part of the new original project "In the Rhythm of Russia" by the National Centre RUSSIA.
