Sampo Mill: Karelian culture was presented at the RUSSIA EXPO
At the
"Sampo Mill" festival, folklore ensembles performed Karelian songs
for the guests of the event, talked about local legends, as well as proverbs
and sayings.
"This
is a bright event that makes a significant contribution to the strengthening
and development of friendly and cultural ties between the Republic of Karelia
and Moscow, contributes to strengthening the foundations of spiritual and moral
unity of society. It is aimed at preserving national cultural traditions,
popularization of Karelian culture and rich natural heritage of the
republic," said the Head of the Republic of Karelia Artur Parfenchikov,
whose address was made at the beginning of the event.
The annual
bright and colorful festival has become one of the most anticipated events in
the Russian capital, Moscow Deputy Mayor Alexander Gorbenko said in his
welcoming speech.
"Today
everyone will be able to delve deeper into the history of Karelian crafts, feel
the originality and color of the national costume, listen to the performances
of folklore groups, get acquainted with folk legends, take part in folk games
and amusements. I am sure that the festival will be held in an atmosphere of
mutual understanding and kindness, will leave unforgettable impressions and
emotions," said Alexander Gorbenko.
Natalia
Lvova, the director of the "Kantele" Song and Dance Ensemble of
Karelia, spoke about the ensemble. According to her, it is the musical symbol
of the Republic of Karelia.
"The
performances showcased today are part of the golden musical heritage of our
Republic. These include songs as well as our wonderful, dynamic dances.
Additionally, guests will be able to learn about Karelian culture through the
traditional costumes of the indigenous peoples of Karelia," emphasized
Natalia Lvova.
In turn,
Daria Skryabina, a Merited Worker of Culture of the Republic of Karelia, talked
about the program at the RUSSIA EXPO.
"We
plan to showcase everything that makes our region famous. This includes craft
traditions, local customs, and national dances. We teach guests how to do
everything according to tradition. At the Exposition, we are giving away gift
certificates worth 100,000 rubles so that more residents of our vast Russia can
visit us!" stated Daria Skryabina.
Hosted festive events dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the Association of Indigenous Small-Numbered Peoples of the North, Siberia, and the Far East of the Russian Federation, and the 95th anniversary of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area – Yugra.
The international campaign "Victory Dictation" took place in Moscow on April 25 across 497 venues.
Essayist participating in the Open Dialogue "The Future of the World. New Platform for Global Growth" took a guided tour of the interactive exposition "Journey Across Russia".
