The place where you grew up and live: Marat Khusnullin on a personal sense of homeland and the unity of peoples

Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Marat Khusnullin has joined the nationwide project "What Does the Motherland Begin With?", launched by the National Centre RUSSIA. In the Deputy Prime Minister's view, the roots of love for one's homeland are closely connected with the place where a person was born, grew up, lives and works today.

"I believe that for every person, the Motherland begins with the place where they were born, with their family home, with the place where they lived, studied, worked and where they live today. It begins with the place where they communicate with other people. It seems to me that there is a very profound meaning in this, especially since this year the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, declared the Year of Unity of the Peoples," said Marat Khusnullin.

The Deputy Prime Minister's words remind us that our country, as one great home shared by all its peoples, begins with something small — a family home, a courtyard, a street and a city. It is there that a sense of love and belonging is formed, bringing together millions of our fellow citizens.

The "What Does the Motherland Begin With?" project is being implemented by the National Centre RUSSIA with the support of the Government of the Russian Federation. Around 1,000 people from 74 regions of Russia and foreign countries have already joined in answering this deeply personal question.
