On Health Day at the RUSSIA EXPO, Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko visited the expositions of the Omsk, Pskov, Murmansk, Belgorod and Tula regions.

"Among the key achievements in the healthcare sector are the estimated increase in life expectancy, reduction of infant mortality to a minimum and infrastructure development. At the moment almost every day new facilities are being opened, which has never happened before. We open more than four thousand medical facilities every year. But people expect all facilities to be in perfect condition, so our task together with the governors within their authority is to ensure that each medical facility is in a decent condition," said Mikhail Murashko.

The head of the ministry also noted the significance of the decision of the President of the Russian Federation on financial support for medical workers, especially in small settlements:

"We see that new facilities require, among other things, staffing with medical personnel, so financial support for doctors working in small settlements with populations up to 50 thousand and from 50 to 100 thousand people is an important step to attract medical professionals, both young and those who want to move to rural areas at an older age".

At the stands, Mikhail Murashko took part in mini-presentations of new medical technologies, medicines and hygiene products, and evaluated thematic activities. He also urged the participants of the tour to pay special attention to the achievements of the Belgorod region's medics.

"During the pandemic and during the period of the SMO, Belgorod medics saved many hundreds of thousands of people by competently mobilizing to provide medical assistance. So let's applaud them together, they are unique people," the minister said.
