A musical evening in honour of the anniversary of Victory was presented to guests at the National Centre RUSSIA by the Alexandrov Military Ensemble
On May 23, the Alexandrov Academic Song and Dance Ensemble of the Russian Army presented the concert programme "Let Us Bow to Those Great Years..." dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory at the National Centre RUSSIA. The event was part of the programme celebrating this memorable date, which is widely marked at the National Centre RUSSIA.
The concert featured the most famous and moving wartime songs from the "golden repertoire" of the legendary Russian ensemble — "The Sacred War," "Nightingales," "Smuglyanka," "March of the Defenders of Moscow," "On the Sunny Glade," "Evening at Roadstead," and others. The audience also enjoyed choreographic performances: "Invitation to the Dance" and "The Sailor’s Barynya."
The finale included the works "Let Us Bow to Those Great Years..." and "Victory Day," during which the audience rose to their feet to honour and commemorate the defenders of the Fatherland.
"We travelled from the Moscow region specially for this concert, because the Alexandrov Ensemble is a living legend, and hearing it in such a symbolic place as the National Centre RUSSIA is a double joy and honour," said guest Anna Kovaleva.
The Twice Red Banner Order of the Red Star Alexandrov Academic Song and Dance Ensemble of the Russian Army is a unique cultural legacy of our country.
Nearly 97 years ago, Major General Alexander Alexandrov — a distinguished choirmaster, composer, and professor at the Moscow Conservatory — founded an army choir and dance ensemble which was the first of its kind and later went on to inspire similar military ensembles around the world. The ensemble has toured in 77 countries, performing works in the languages of many peoples of the world.
The head of the ensemble is Honoured Artist of Russia, Professor of the V. S. Popov Academy of Choral Art, Colonel Gennady Sashenyuk.
The mission of the ensemble, just like that of the National Centre RUSSIA, is to bring up the younger generation in the spirit of patriotism and love for the Motherland.
Graduates of the International Children's Centre Artek from all regions of Russia and various countries across the world will arrive at the National Centre RUSSIA.
