At the first event of the Russia National Centre, methodologies for researching the future will be discussed
On the first day of the Russia National Centre’s activities within the framework of the International Symposium "Inventing the Future," a panel discussion, "Studying the Future," will take place. Representatives from different countries, fields, and modern research schools will gather to present the results of their latest projects and discuss their prospects.
Experts from Russia and Symposium participant countries will discuss the effects of multipolarity and other global megatrends, as well as universal and unique challenges facing the Global North and Global South, and the future of technology.
They will also debate the fate of human-centric values in the tech world and explore who will shape the future — opening new horizons in science and new chapters in the history of a multipolar world.
The panelists will answer questions about how the world, society, and research are changing, what trends shape the vision of the future, and how the methods of studying the future might evolve.
The panel discussion will be moderated by Valery Fedorov, General Director of VCIOM. Invited speakers include Alexander Sokolov, Director of the Foresight Centre and Deputy Director of the Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge at the Higher School of Economics; Vladimir Pantin, Head of the Sector for Political Change Analysis and Identity of the Centre for Comparative Social, Economic, and Political Studies at IMEMO RAS; Alexander Chulok, Director of the Centre for Science and Technology Foresight at ISSEK HSE; Igor Zadorin, organizer and head of the CIRCON Research Group; independent demographer Alexey Raksha; Mikhail Emelyanov, Head of the Go and Strategy Centre; Chilean journalist and futurist Johann Wegmann Peña; Yunus Bennani, President of the Casablanca Institute for Social and Media Research; and Spanish futurist and engineer José Cordeiro.
