At the RUSSIA EXPO at VDNH, a City Day for Slobodskoy was held. Visitors were introduced to one of the most beautiful cities in the Kirov region.
A program titled "Slobodskoy: With Literature in the Heart" was presented for guests on this day. Guides dressed in historical XIX-century costumes told guests about the most significant and vivid moments of Slobodskoy's literary past, known for its numerous preserved architectural monuments and cohesive historical urban environment. The city of Slobodskoy is the hometown of the romantic writer, author of "Scarlet Sails" and " Running on Waves", Alexander Grin.
This point on the map of Russia is associated with many renowned writers and poets. During his travels across Russia with Tsarevich Alexander, poet Vasily Zhukovsky visited the city. Natalia Lanskaya, the widow of Alexander Pushkin, visited Slobodskoy multiple times. During the Great Patriotic War, actress Augusta Miklashevskaya, to whom Sergei Yesenin dedicated the cycle of poems "The Hooligan's Love," worked in Slobodskoy.
On this day, residents of Slobodskoy also presented a theatrical performance titled "Nina Nikolaevna Grin — The Fairy of the Golden Sieve" and held an interactive program developed as part of the "Street Poetry Readings" project, which has been implemented in the city since 2017.
