The "LIVE" stele was unveiled at the Exposition
On May 25,
at the International RUSSIA EXPO, the unveiling of the "LIVE" stele
took place near the arch at the South Entrance of VDNH. This stele was created
by LizaAlert in collaboration with the Guild of Blacksmiths of Russia. The
event was held jointly with the LizaAlert search and rescue squad on the
Missing Children's Day.
The stele
is made in the shape of silhouettes of two children, a boy and a girl, who
stand hesitantly, holding hands. It became a symbol of hope for the parents who
faced the tragedy.
The event
was attended by Anna Kuznetsova, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma, Grigory
Sergeev, Chairman of the LizaAlert volunteer search and rescue team and Dmitry
Igumnov, representative of the Guild of Blacksmiths of Russia and volunteer of
the search and rescue team.
Anna
Kuznetsova noted the important role of LizaAlert volunteers in the search and
rescue of missing people. "In Russia, more than 30 thousand reports of
missing children get to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. And in this regard, I
want to express my gratitude to all the volunteers of the LizaAlert squad, who
not on assignment, but by the will of their hearts run to the call when it
comes to a missing child. All over the country, day and night, on their cars,
overcoming thousands of kilometers, they together with the Ministry of
Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Internal Affairs save people," said
Anna Kuznetsova.
During the
opening ceremony of the stele, Grigory Sergeev reminded the participants of the
event about responsibility and attentiveness towards their children, adding
that it is important to support the parents of missing children as well. "We
do everything possible to make it in time. We travel hundreds of kilometers,
spend all our energies to find the child alive. Until we find the child, the
parents always believe that the child is alive. This stele expresses solidarity
and support for parents," Grigory Sergeev said.
He added
that the "LIVE" stele is a reminder of all those whom volunteer units
are looking for and will be looking for in the future.
"This
idea appeared quite a long time ago. And at some point I proposed it to the
chairman of the LizaAlert volunteer search and rescue squad Grigory Sergeev,
who agreed to put it into practice. I would like to point out that the idea
came to life with minor changes, but now I see that it is much more interesting
and better compared to the original idea," said Dmitry Igumnov.
From year
to year on this day LizaAlert tries to attract public attention to the problem
of missing children, to tell parents what to do if a child goes missing, what
to teach their children to prevent it. From May 25 (Missing Children's Day) to
June 1 (Children's Day) across the country, LizaAlert conducts campaigns and
reminds children and their parents of the safety rules, which they teach in
every way we can — because if a child follows them, it will significantly
reduce the likelihood that they will have to look for them.
The RUSSIA
EXPO will hold a Children's Safety Week by LizaAlert from May 25 to June 1 with
the support of the Russian Society "Knowledge". Experienced
instructors of the squad will hold classes for children from 5 to 10 years old.
LizaAlert
volunteer search and rescue squad appeared in October 2010. The detachment is
engaged in searching for missing people in the forest and in the city. All
search activities are organized by LizaAlert volunteers on a free of charge
basis. Today the squad has more than 40,000 people and is represented in 64
regions of the Russian Federation. It has 24 tracks, whose activities are
focused on the most effective response to each search request, including:
coordinators, informers, communicators, cartographers, cynologists, recorders,
unmanned aviation and others.
In 13
years, the squad has participated in the search and rescue of more than 181,000
people alive; in total, more than 248,000 requests have been received and
processed, and more than 213,000 people have been found.
