A costumed procession "Wedding" took place at the RUSSIA EXPO
A costumed procession "Wedding" was held at the International RUSSIA EXPO. Its participants were a young couple and witnesses demonstrating to the guests a traditional wedding celebration with songs and dances. The event was organized with the support of the "Istok" project, dedicated to the development and popularization of Russian folk culture among young people.
Starting from the Main Arch of VDNH, the participants of the procession sang wedding Russian folk songs from different regions of Russia: velichalnye (praising), dancing, korilnye (teasing). There were also traditional instrumental tunes, without which no wedding in the Russian village could do.
All participants of the procession were dressed in traditional period costumes, including newlyweds. 30 musicians took part in the procession.
The first All-Russian Wedding Festival was held at the Exposition in partnership with the Moscow Government. On May 12, the opening day of the Festival, the VDNH hosted the largest mass simultaneous marriage ceremony with the participation of 151 couples. The festival program lasted until May 19.
During the all-Russian survey "What does the Motherland begin with?", people across the country are answering this question in their own way, opening up the innermost corners of their souls.
Souvenir nevalyashkas (traditional Russian roly-poly dolls), are attracting particular attention, with guests choosing them for their harmonious combination of Russian colour and traditional Chinese symbols.
Under the guidance of artisans, each guest made an unusual souvenir that can become either a personal talisman or a gift with a special story.
