"Marathon of Green Deeds" was launched at the RUSSIA EXPO
Pavilion No. 55 "Home of Youth" launched the campaign "Marathon of Green Deeds" organized by the All-Russian Ecological Public Movement "Ecosystem".
The movement included 11 thousand activists in 75 regions of Russia, said Oleg Makarov, Advisor to the Head of the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs. The "Marathon of Green Deeds" campaign is being held for the second time.
"It is nice to see that there are active young people who with their initiatives and proposals participate in the environmental agenda. I would like to thank everyone for this on behalf of the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs," emphasized Oleg Makarov.
The movement works not only with public organizations, but also with students, creating an elevator of a real environmental leader-activist, Andrei Rudnev, co-chairman of the movement, is convinced.
"We all start with young naturalists (yunnats), then we move to student environmental organizations, and then we can become either public figures or scientists in the field of ecology. We are confident that the Ecosystem movement will accompany future specialists on this path," said Andrei Rudnev.
Young specialists and activists working on the environmental agenda ensure the country's future, said Ksenia Yekimova, Vice-Rector of the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics.
"The time has come for the young, active, knowledgeable, deeply proficient in technology, knowledge, skills, scientific apparatus — it's all about you. Every year International Earth Day has a certain theme. This year it is "Planet against Plastic". We will solve this challenge together," Ksenia Yekimova addressed the participants.
After the start of the campaign, the Ecosystem movement and Plekhanov Russian Economic University signed a cooperation agreement. In addition, the eco-activists discussed the role of universities in the environmental agenda and environmental activities. They were presented the most successful environmental projects.
The start of the "Marathon of Green Deeds" was timed to coincide with the International Earth Day on April 22 — the campaign will last until June 5, when the Ecologist's Day is celebrated. It will include various environmental activities.
