The National Centre RUSSIA and the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia named after Patrice Lumumba (RUDN University) signed a cooperation agreement on 24 December. The agreement was signed by the Director General of the National Centre RUSSIA, Natalia Virtuozova, and the Rector of RUDN, Oleg Yastrebov. It is aimed at developing long-term non-commercial partnership in the field of youth policy and is set for a five-year period.

The agreement focuses on the joint implementation of educational, outreach, and patriotic projects, the organisation of guided tours and events, the exchange of experience, and information support for initiatives that contribute to the comprehensive development of young people.

"I would like to thank the RUDN team for being the first to lend us a helping hand when we were only beginning to create the National Centre RUSSIA. We have gone through this year together. I am confident that together with the Peoples’ Friendship University team, with all of you, we will continue to implement important projects, and we very much count on your active involvement," said the Director General of the National Centre RUSSIA, Natalia Virtuozova.

Under the agreement, the National Centre RUSSIA may organise group tours for RUDN students, postgraduate students, and staff; jointly develop themed tour routes with the university; provide qualified tour guides; and offer venues for off-site lectures, seminars, master classes, and other educational events. The Centre will also support the organisation of meetings between students and representatives of government authorities, state-owned corporations, businesses, and regions, assist with the organisation of academic and industrial placements, and provide information support for joint projects.

"RUDN was established as a unique, innovative project of a young country that saw its mission as the need to extend a helping hand to the whole world. Our university has become a kind of development institution for the countries of Africa, Asia, and Latin America through strong education. For 65 years, RUDN has pursued and continues to pursue this mission. Partnership with such a landmark player as the National Centre RUSSIA is important for us — a platform that tells the story of the country’s major achievements in science, culture, technology, environmental protection, and education, and a venue for landmark scientific, social, and cultural events," Rector of the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia Oleg Yastrebov commented on the signing of the agreement.

For its part, RUDN may integrate visits to the expositions of the National Centre RUSSIA into the educational process; form and support groups of students and staff to take part in tours and events; submit applications for their organisation; ensure the participation of students and lecturers in joint conferences, forums, and round tables; and involve students in volunteer programmes.

In addition, Natalia Virtuozova met with RUDN students from China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Armenia, and other countries. She congratulated them on the upcoming New Year and invited them to take an active part in the international events of the National Centre.

"We often use the phrase ‘Discover the whole world in one university’ in our promotional materials about the university. About the National Centre RUSSIA, one can confidently say: ‘Discover all of Russia in one place’. Here you can see the culture, traditions, and the diversity of the regions of our country. I am sure that visiting the Centre will become a vivid experience for you and will remain as an important, bright moment of your studies in Russia, to which you will return more than once in your memories," Oleg Yastrebov added.

RUDN students also visited the exposition "Book of Fairy Tales". They took part in a guided tour and learned about installations and New Year traditions in Russia. The students said that Baba Yaga left the strongest impression on them. Afterwards, a New Year quiz was held for them. The students were divided into nine teams and answered tricky questions, such as which winter month was called "lyutiy" (fierce) in ancient times, where Ded Moroz was born, what material was used to make the first Christmas tree decorations in Russia, and others. They were also invited to guess Soviet or Russian films from emojis.
