The National Centre RUSSIA invites to the multi-genre stage production "Morozko"
Registration has opened for the stage production "Morozko", which will run from 27 December 2025 to 14 January 2026. Guests of the National Centre RUSSIA are invited to a series of festive family performances of the original multi-genre production "Morozko". The main characters of the show are the girl Nastenka and Morozko. A story loved by many is reimagined through a contemporary lens.
At the heart of the production is a modern fairy tale imbued with a strong national character. The performance begins in a modern flat, in an ordinary family where a warm tradition once existed: staging home performances based on Russian fairy tales on the eve of the New Year. Over the years, the ritual was forgotten. Loud laughter and joy gave way to silence. Each member of the family is absorbed in their smartphone.
According to the storyline, young Nastenka longs for the lost warmth. On New Year’s Eve, she makes a wish. A miracle happens: her smartphone turns into a magical portal that draws her into an exciting and dangerous world of Russian fairy tales. Here, her guide and wise mentor is Morozko himself. Nastenka’s family sets out in search of her. Each of them must undergo an important trial in order to bring the girl back, rediscover their true selves, and restore family warmth.
The evening’s performers include leading artists of the Bolshoi Theatre, artists of the Kremlin Ballet, soloists of the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Musical Theatre, the Russian National Ballet "Kostroma", the country’s main Baba Yaga By BABAYAGA, the Russian musical folklore group "Buranovskiye Babushki", actors of the Vakhtangov Theatre and the Theatre "At the Nikitsky Gates", as well as the Ledyakh Choreographic College.
The multi-genre production "Morozko" is a large-scale, kind, and relevant event for the whole family. It serves as a vivid reminder to audiences of all generations that the most important miracle is love and mutual understanding within the family. When these are present, any challenge can be overcome — from the loss of communication to digital alienation. This journey reminds viewers of all ages of the value of family warmth and the New Year miracle. Registration is available on the website.
Experienced mentors will not only talk about the evolution of these traditions, but also present a detailed concept of festive table setting a la russe.
