Volunteer of the National Centre RUSSIA Lyudmila Gorelova has been engaged in volunteer work since 2018. Her journey into volunteering began by chance.

"In the summer, a colleague asked me to copy a letter of appreciation from the FIFA World Cup and a volunteer record book. This book is a kind of ID for a volunteer, where all hours of volunteer service and achievements are recorded. I became curious about what kind of book it was, and my colleague told me more. That’s how I began my path in volunteer work," said Lyudmila Gorelova.

Since then, she has fully immersed herself in volunteer projects, trying different areas of activity. According to her, the mission of the National Centre RUSSIA resonated with her worldview, which is why she joined the volunteer team of the National Centre RUSSIA.

"I am a university lecturer by profession and teach various subjects, including 'Fundamentals of Russian Statehood.' So I couldn’t stay away and became a volunteer of the National Centre. I help visitors take commemorative photos so they can preserve their impressions of the expositions and of the National Centre RUSSIA," shared Lyudmila Gorelova.

Lyudmila emphasises that a volunteer must always remain in good spirits, no matter what.

"Even if you're not in the best mood, you have to hold yourself together and always stay cheerful and smiling. I think it’s quite difficult in the sense that each of us goes through different situations, and it's not always possible to keep a smile on your face. But at the same time, that very smile gives you a charge of positive emotions, so it's both a challenge and a blessing for the volunteer themselves," the activist noted.

The most interesting event in her volunteering experience was participating in the "Znanie.State" forum organized by the Russian society Znanie.

"In my opinion, every citizen of the Russian Federation should in one way or another help their country address the challenges it faces," said Lyudmila Gorelova.

Over the six months of the National Centre RUSSIA’s operation, 785 volunteers and 19 volunteer delegations from universities in Moscow and the Moscow region have taken part in implementing the volunteer programme. They have worked more than 14,500 volunteer hours and assisted in organizing 105 events.
