As part of the all-Russian survey "What Does the Motherland Begin With?", conducted by the National Centre RUSSIA, People’s Artist of the RSFSR Nadezhda Babkina shared her thoughts on the origins of love for the Fatherland. Her answer brought together childhood memories, respect for elders and a deep love for a country where people of different cultures and traditions have lived in friendship and harmony from time immemorial.

For Nadezhda Babkina, the Motherland begins not with state symbols or borders, but with childhood, her native home and the feeling of unity that arises when children of other nationalities grow up alongside you, and this does not become an obstacle but, on the contrary, shapes responsibility and makes life richer and more interesting.

"That is why, for me, the Motherland is where we were friends with children of completely different nationalities. We did not even know the word 'nationality'; we simply all felt good together. We played games, went to kindergartens and then to schools. We respected our parents and valued their experience, love and kindness. And when you grow up, this small homeland becomes a large one, and with it comes a more significant responsibility," Nadezhda Babkina said.

The National Centre RUSSIA launched the all-Russian survey "What Does the Motherland Begin With?" to hear as many stories like this as possible: touching, personal and warmed by the light of memories. And what does the Motherland begin with for you? Share your thoughts in our survey, the results of which will be announced very soon, next week.
