We need Diaghilev: a new cultural festival at the RUSSIA EXPO
The cultural search festival "We Need Diaghilev" was presented at the Rosneft pavilion. The founder and organizer of the festival is the Foundation for Support of Humanitarian Initiatives "BrookaFestivalFondation" with the participation of MGIMO of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
"We Need Diaghilev" is designed to popularize Russian classical and contemporary art in its various forms. The festival includes a number of cultural events, including expositions, lectures, performances and competitions at venues in major Russian cities.
Sergei Shitkov, Co-Chairman of the Festival's Organizing Committee, Vice-Rector for Legal, Administrative Affairs and Digitalization of MGIMO of the Russian Foreign Ministry, gave more details about the event to the guests of the Exposition.
"The project 'We Need Diaghilev' is a journey into the world of art, a project filled with the spirit of the great impresario, designed to combine the legacy of Russian classics and modern, innovative approaches of thinking. The aim of the festival is to scale the ideas of cultural diplomacy, to infect with passion for art, to find original points of connection between innovation and tradition," said Sergei Shitkov, Co-Chairman of the Festival's Organizing Committee, Vice-Rector for Legal, Administrative Affairs and Digitalization of MGIMO of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The project combines cultural, exposition, artistic and educational events throughout the year at various Russian and foreign venues.
"We have a very rich grid of events. For this year alone, 47 events are planned, all of them of a very different nature: small and large, designed for a variety of audiences. And we plan to increase the number of events. We are not going to limit ourselves to this year," emphasized Sergei Shitkov.
Sergei Diaghilev (1872-1929) was a theater artistic figure and founder of one of the most influential and innovative theater groups of the XX century — "Russian Seasons". Under his leadership, "Russian Seasons" became known for its picturesque productions and innovative choreographic solutions.

The congress was attended by more than 250 delegates representing the inventor community from 70 constituent entities of our country.
The festival passed its tenth anniversary last year, and its popularity in its home city continues to grow.
