Natalia Virtuozova congratulated the Museum of the Embroidered Map of Russia on its opening
The Museum
of the Embroidered Map of Russia is located on Red Square in Cheboksary, the
capital of the Chuvash Republic. Its main display item is the Embroidered Map
of Russia — a huge panel that looks like the map of Russia, which became one of
the central art objects and symbols of the RUSSIA EXPO. The opening ceremony of
the museum was attended by the Head of the Chuvash Republic, Oleg Nikolayev.
Natalia Virtuozova, Director General of the National Centre RUSSIA, sent a
video greeting.
Media
facades with the digital version of the Map were placed outside the building of
the Museum of the Embroidered Map of Russia. The museum will not only display
canvases with traditional embroidery but also hold cultural and educational
events.
"This
is a great event not only for the republic where the idea of the embroidered
map was born but for the whole country. I want to thank the governor of the
republic Oleg Alekseyevich and the entire team — you were among the first to
come to Moscow when the RUSSIA EXPO was just being created, and together we
decided that the embroidered map of Russia would become one of the symbols of
our exposition. The map is beginning a new story — a musical one. In June, the
project 'Modern Musical Map of Russia' will start. I'm pleased to announce that
this project will culminate in a large concert at the National Centre RUSSIA.
Once again, congratulations on the opening. May the museum have a long,
inspiring history!" said Natalia Virtuozova.
The
Embroidered Map of Russia was handmade by masters from all regions of the
country in 2022. The size of the canvas is 3 by 7 metres.
Nittaya Kanokmongkol, Director of the National Museums of Thailand, visited the architectural exposition "The Birth of Scale" at the National Centre RUSSIA.
All exposition spaces, the Department Store, and the Gastronomic Rows will reopen to visitors on Friday, May 30.
Artist AMCHI (Artem Amchislavsky) from the Krasnodar region performed on the stage of the "Journey Across Russia" space.
