The National Centre RUSSIA congratulates the energy industry workers on their professional holiday
On 22 December, workers in the energy industry in Russia
celebrate their professional holiday. This day was established in May 1966 by a
decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR to commemorate the
adoption of the State Plan for the Electrification of Russia (GOELRO) in 1920. The document became the basis for
the subsequent mass construction of power plants and power lines, which allowed
the country to make a huge industrial leap.
"This
day unites thousands of engineers, technicians, enterprise workers and
researchers who ensure the stable operation of the entire energy system of our
country. Today, the energy industry plays a key role in the successful
development not only of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation but
also of the country as a whole, supplying energy resources to various
industrial sectors and social facilities, and providing light and heat to
millions of our residents," says the congratulatory message from Sergei
Tsivilev, Minister of Energy of Russia.
The energy
sector comprises over 34,000 industrial enterprises, including more than 200
large companies. It provides jobs for over 12% of Russia's entire workforce. It
plays an important role in the economies of about 20 regions of the country,
where industrial centres have developed.
Today,
Russia is among the world's states that are not only fully self-sufficient in
their own reserves of fuel and energy resources but also have the capacity to
export them. Our country plays one of the key roles in global energy and can
offer advanced technological developments.
The
National Centre RUSSIA congratulates the energy industry workers on their
professional holiday, and especially — the veterans of the industry, whose
knowledge and experience are passed on to new generations of specialists.
