A collection of clothes made of glass and a new life for discarded items - the finals of the All-Russian Young Designers Contest Tochka Ru (Dot Ru) were held at the RUSSIA EXPO. The theme of the competition in 2024 was the interconnection of ecology and fashion. The participants had to offer their interpretation of the concept of "eco-fashion".

Thus, before the event, one of the finalists, Alexandra Dolgopolova, a student of Kosygin Russian State University, said that cooperation with industries and the help of people who bring unwanted clothes allow them to make new products and "breathe new life into them."

"I am one of the founders of the Das brand. We collaborate with productions. They give us defective rolls, which we either buy back or make corrections on some barter basis. All the items in our brand are re-dressed, remade. In addition, people bring their clothes that they are no longer interested in, they have already grown out of. And we make brand new items from them, thus breathing new life into them," said Alexandra Dolgopolova.

She added that everyone will be able to see her new collection, which is called "Don't Trouble Trouble!", and this collection is made entirely of recycled materials.

Another finalist David Melik-Agamiryan, a student of Kosygin Russian State University, spoke about the reason for his participation in the All-Russian Young Designers Contest, noting the uniqueness of his "world's first glass collection."

"I really like the concept of the Tochka Ru competition, given that designers from all over Russia gather and present their innovative ideas. I went to this contest because my collection is also innovative. I created the world's first collection made of glass. The contest is a good platform to make myself known, to show what kind of innovation I would like to bring to fashion," said David Melik-Agamiryan.

He added that it is absolutely safe to wear clothes from his collection: you can even "sit, run, jump".

Ekaterina Ivanova, a representative of the contest jury, head of the creative projects directorate of the Roscongress Foundation, said that the winners of the contest will be invited to show their collections at the Russian Design Industry Forum.

"The Tochka Ru competition is a professional springboard. We will gladly invite some of those who will win today to show their collections within the framework of the Design Industry Forum, which will be held in April in Moscow. And, of course, the slogan of the contest "A Student Today - A Brand Tomorrow" is very fitting. Perhaps, this is the main message of this creative, young, but professional contest," said Ekaterina Ivanova.

All-Russian Young Designers Contest Tochka Ru has been held annually since 2008. It is organized by A. N. Kosygin Russian State University with the support of the Russian Society "Knowledge" and VTB Bank. The "Knowledge" Society is the general partner of the RUSSIA EXPO educational program.
