Olga Lyubimova highlighted the "Legacy for the Future" exposition in an interview with the National Centre
The
National Centre RUSSIA recently held an interview meeting with the Minister of
Culture of the Russian Federation, Olga Lyubimova. The discussion focused on
the role of culture and art in society, the development prospects for cultural
institutions, and the success of the international exposition of young artists,
"Legacy for the Future." The interview was conducted by the exposition’s
curator, Rector of the Ilya Repin St. Petersburg Academy of Arts, Semyon
Mikhailovsky.
"'Legacy
for the Future' is an incredibly interesting, joyful, and life-affirming
exposition. It stands completely apart from international agendas, being young
and immensely powerful in its energy. You can literally draw strength from the
creativity of the young artists who created these works. My heartfelt
congratulations to you," said Olga Lyubimova.
The
Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation noted that museums and libraries
in the country are experiencing a kind of renaissance. Modern cultural
institutions are transforming into comfortable public spaces for open dialogue,
education, and creativity. Even the more conservative representatives of the
museum community, according to Olga Lyubimova, are adapting to the new
realities.
"Everything
related to museums and libraries truly brings joy. Museums are no longer afraid
to become centres of hospitality. We now see modern approaches to expositions,
workshops, quests, and so on. Guided tours have become more lively and
emotional. This is very important for us. We can see a shift in the attitude of
the Union of Museums, which previously reacted painfully to these innovations.
Museums were perceived more as temple-like structures: 'You come, cross
yourself, and leave,'" emphasized Olga Lyubimova.
The
Minister of Culture emphasized that positive changes and transformations are
taking place not only in Moscow and St. Petersburg but also in other parts of
the country. She noted that the competition among regions for rankings and
public recognition drives their desire for development.
According
to Olga Lyubimova, it is impossible to achieve changes "from the
centre" — the initiative must come from the regions themselves. While it
was previously unclear how to measure success, it is now evident: the key
performance indicators are reflected in people's joy. The Minister added that
the growing interest in theatres is an example of such positive change, as
"people are drawn to the light."
