Choosing a profession at 11: architectural workshop at the National Centre RUSSIA helped make a decision
The
workshop "Apartment Planning Through a Child’s Eyes" took place on
May 30 as part of the educational programme of "The Birth of Scale"
exposition at the National Centre RUSSIA. The session was led by Anna Butova, a
lecturer at the HSE Art and Design School.
During the
practical workshop, children created their vision of an ideal apartment,
bringing their boldest ideas to life. The participants learned the basics of
planning and modelling, developed spatial awareness and a sense of scale, and
built miniature interiors with their own hands.
Maria
Stoycheva, a visitor to the National Centre RUSSIA, shared that she dreams of
becoming an interior designer. According to her mother, the family specifically
attended the architectural workshop to encourage her daughter’s aspirations.
"I
wanted my daughter to try herself in this field. She draws very well. She’s 11
years old and recently decided on her future profession. We designed our own
room out of paper and coloured it. Now she’s confident in her choice. After the
session, we’ll visit the exposition 'The Birth of Scale'," said Natalia
Stoycheva.
Yaroslav
and Maria Dudenin attended a session at the National Centre RUSSIA for the
first time.
"I
liked that there were several different tasks to choose from, tailored to
different ages. Since it was my son's first experience with design, planning,
and construction, we chose an easier task for him. He was able to take
measurements, build, and visualise his idea on paper. I think next time
Yaroslav will be ready for something more advanced," shared Maria
Dudenina.
The Dudenin
family is subscribed to the Telegram channel of the National Centre RUSSIA and
follows the announcements.
"My
goal is to help children discover their creative side and understand which
direction they want to take. In our workshop, each child first built their own
structure out of wooden blocks, then transferred it to paper as a
three-dimensional model. The next step is to plan the layout of the
rooms," explained tutor Anna Butova.
Participation
in such workshops is free of charge. To join, one needs to register on the
website russia.ru in the "Events" section.
