Khanty-Mansiysk is now almost fully prepared for the official opening of the National Centre RUSSIA, scheduled to coincide with the 95th anniversary of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area – Yugra. The event will mark an important milestone in the region’s development and strengthen citizens’ sense of identity and pride in their country. Registration is already open for a unique multimedia tour that brings to life the history of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area – Yugra.
The branch will be located in the regional capital, Khanty-Mansiysk, close to the Gennady Rayshev Embankment and a newly developed residential district. Nearby sports and educational facilities will make the National Centre RUSSIA in Yugra an integral part of the city’s social infrastructure.
The opening of the National Centre RUSSIA in Yugra will become a major contribution to the development of the region’s cultural and educational infrastructure, supporting interregional links and promoting national values.
The symbol of the branch is the loon – the bird that, according to legend, created the earth. Its image highlights the connection with the region’s ancient history and cultural heritage. As one of the world’s most ancient birds, the loon symbolises continuity and a deep bond with nature, reflecting the spirit of Yugra.
The total area of the centre will be nearly 6,500 square metres. The exposition is designed for visitors of all ages – young people, children and older audiences. It will feature classical displays, digital installations, interactive formats and multimedia content.
The hall titled "Dialogue Between Nature and Humanity" will explore how centuries-old knowledge of the natural world intertwines with modern scientific approaches to protecting Yugra’s biodiversity. Through interactive elements and digital installations, visitors will see how landscapes shaped the way of life, customs and economic practices of local communities. Virtual tours of protected areas and interactive maps will introduce the flora and fauna of the region.
The "Hearth of Legends" hall is dedicated to the traditions of the indigenous peoples. It will provide a foundation for understanding the region’s cultural heritage. Mythology, celebrations, traditional clothing, daily life and decorative arts will be presented through interactive installations that immerse visitors in the atmosphere of indigenous culture. Guests will be able to take part in craft workshops and view multimedia presentations on customs and traditions.
The "Pride of the Future" hall will showcase the economic development of Yugra, its innovations and achievements across various sectors. It will highlight the progress of each municipality, demonstrating advances in industrial projects and digital transformation.
In the "Flight over Yugra" cinema hall, visitors will be able to admire the region’s landscapes, explore its natural beauty and discover architectural landmarks. Thanks to modern technology and virtual reality, guests will find themselves aboard an aircraft, viewing major industrial facilities from a bird’s-eye perspective.
The hall of temporary expositions will host "Heroes of the Fatherland", dedicated to the feats of Yugra’s residents during the Great Patriotic War and beyond. Visitors will learn about historic events, discover the names of heroes and see artefacts including weapons and uniforms. This exposition underscores the importance of historical memory and encourages patriotism among young visitors.
At the Department Store RUSSIA, visitors will be able to purchase products from Siberian brands as well as goods from other regions of the country.
The National Centre RUSSIA in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area – Yugra will become an important cultural and educational space that strengthens pride in the region’s achievements and in the country as a whole.
