Response to attempts to rewrite history: the premiere of the documentary film "Azov of the Brain" was held at the National Centre RUSSIA
The
premiere screening of the second part of the documentary film "Azov of the
Brain," continuing the investigation of the ideology and crimes of the
Ukrainian neo-Nazi formation "Azov,"* took place on May 20 at the
National Centre RUSSIA.
The event
was timed to coincide with significant dates — the 80th anniversary of Victory
in the Great Patriotic War, the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland, and the
third anniversary of the liberation of Mariupol.
"This
project is our response to attempts to rewrite history. We have shown how
neo-Nazism, disguised by lies, is eating society from within. We want 20 May to
be remembered not only as the day Mariupol was liberated by our troops. We want
this date to be remembered as the final defeat of the 'Azov'* regiment, which
once seemed invincible to the world media," said the film’s author,
journalist, and State Duma deputy Marina Kim.
The
premiere gathered over 450 guests, including journalists, experts, Heroes of
the Russian Federation, veterans, public and political figures, to remind about
the importance of fighting the revival of Nazism.
"Many
will find this film difficult to watch; not all the footage can be digested
without an appropriate emotional reaction. But it is very important — to show
how the already fragile myth of the nobility of the 'Azov'* regiment members
collapses right before your eyes after watching the film. Such films should be
translated into foreign languages so that as many people as possible around the
world know who and what Russia is fighting against," emphasised in a video
message to the participants of the screening the Director of the Information
and Press Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian
Federation Maria Zakharova.
Honoured
guests of the premiere included the Commissioner for Human Rights in the
Russian Federation Tatyana Moskalkova, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma
Committee on Defence, Hero of the Russian Federation Dmitri Sablin, Deputy
Chairman of the State Duma Anna Kuznetsova, Deputy Head of the Main Directorate
for Military-Political Work of the Ministry of Defence, Hero of the Russian
Federation Apti Alaudinov, historian, political scientist, journalist Alexei
Kochetkov, and others.
"Today
there is a shortage of truth about what our army is doing to free not only
Russia but others from Nazism. Therefore, thanks to those people who, through
their heart and fate, endure the pain and suffering of civilians, for finding
the strength and opportunity to make this brilliant film and show the truth to
people. And many thanks to all those who believe that what we do is a just
cause," said the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation
Tatyana Moskalkova.
The
documentary film "Azov of the Brain – 2" continues the investigation
of the crimes of the regiment Azov, banned in Russia. Marina Kim’s film crew
obtained exclusive interviews with militants held in prisons.
The film exposes the ideology of neo-Nazism, mixed with Russophobia and neo-paganism. It reflects the story of the defeat of the "Azov"* regiment told by the commanders themselves. The fighters confess to atrocities against civilians of Mariupol and Russian military personnel. One of the film’s heroes says: "We were used as cannon fodder. Those who promised glory betrayed us first," debunking the myth of the regiment’s "invincibility."
The
premiere was supported by the Russian society Znanie, the Russian
Military-Historical Society, the All-Russian Public Organisation of Veterans
"Combat Brotherhood," the International Multimedia Press Centre
(IMPC) of the international media group "Rossiya Segodnya," and the
National Centre RUSSIA.
* Recognised
as a terrorist organisation and banned in Russia.
