Screenings of new Russian series dedicated to the 80th anniversary of victory began at the National Centre RUSSIA
The programme "Stories of War Come to Life: New Russian Series for the 80th Anniversary of Victory", prepared by the Internet Development Institute (ANO "IRI"), opened at the National Centre RUSSIA on 1 May with the screening of the series "Taganrog." A series of free screenings of war-themed historical and documentary projects will take place at the National Centre RUSSIA during the May holidays.
On 1 May, viewers saw the war drama "Taganrog", which tells the story of Soviet boys and girls who fought against the Nazi invaders in the occupied city of Taganrog. The plot unfolds around the events of October 1941.
The screening was attended by the film crew. The creators of the series spoke about the production process and interacted with the audience. The cast includes Denis Donskoy, Kirill Baloban, Alexei Krasnotsvetov, Danila Yakushev, Yuri Baturin, Daria Kukarskikh, Sergei Zharkov and others.
"Today we are going to watch a wonderful series. I highly recommend watching all the episodes. It’s a story about members of the underground resistance, about young people who found the courage to defend their city. My character is Nikolai Morozov, also known as Semyon Morozov. We immersed ourselves in history, walked the streets of Taganrog, soaked in everything. The premiere is taking place at the National Centre RUSSIA, and that shows we’re moving in the right direction. I think the series will be especially interesting to young people," said Russian theatre, film and television actor Vitaly Ilyushkin at the premiere screening.
According to Russian theatre and film actor Denis Donskoy, the team created a sincere work.
"A role that allows you to pour your soul into it — that's what we were given. And we were very lucky to be part of this project. Thank you to all our ancestors for the Victory. 'Taganrog' is not a fictional story — it’s all based on real events. I’m from the Rostov region, and I’m grateful that the heroic deeds of my fellow countrymen were chosen to be highlighted. This is a story about friendship and love. I believe everyone should watch it and ask themselves: what really matters to me in life? We filmed in Taganrog and conveyed the city’s atmosphere with great accuracy. Much of the architecture from that time has been preserved. The film turned out to be very beautiful, which is incredibly important — southern landscapes, the open Don fields and steppes, the stirring sea," said Denis Donskoy about the series.
Produced by: Gazprom-Media Holding in cooperation with the Triix Media film company, with the support of the Internet Development Institute (IRI). The series will premiere on 3 May on the PREMIER online cinema platform.
As part of the cycle, screenings of the projects "Then That’s Where We’re Meant to Go," "Following the Beast’s Trail," and "Victory" are also planned. Screenings will take place on 2, 4 and 7 May. Each event begins at 16:00. Full details are available on the russia.ru website in the "Events" section.
