Try steering a river vessel: interactive zone with a simulator at the "Journey Across Russia" exposition
At the
National Centre RUSSIA, the "Journey Across Russia" exposition
invites guests to discover the natural beauty and technological achievements of
our country through modern technologies. The interactive zones vividly
demonstrate ongoing projects in various regions, allowing visitors to explore
the diversity and scale of Russia’s nature, science, and industry.
As part of
the Volga Federal District exposition, there is a zone featuring a new
generation of hydrofoil river vessels — the Meteor 120R. Here, visitors can try
their hand at captaining a passenger vessel using a special simulator. The
journey begins in the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan — Kazan, one of the
few cities whose history spans more than a thousand years.
"The
Meteor 120R is one of the brightest examples of progress in water transport.
During a cruise along the Volga, travellers can explore the region and enjoy
its stunning nature. Modern river tourism offers comfort, safety and
unforgettable experiences. Innovative solutions allow tourists to fully
appreciate Russia’s picturesque rivers and lakes while immersing themselves in
the rich historical legacy and cultural traditions of the places along their
routes," said Olga Dodonova, a guide at the National Centre RUSSIA.
The vessel
is manufactured at the JSC Central Design Bureau for Hydrofoil Vessels named
after R. E. Alekseyev in Nizhny Novgorod. The Meteor 120R is the first modern
watercraft of its kind in Russia.
The vessel
is 36 metres long, can accommodate up to 120 passengers and reach speeds of up
to 65 km/h, making it an ideal choice for fast and comfortable trips along the
Volga. Its maximum cruising range is 700 kilometres. The Meteor 120R connects
key cities of the region.
Admission
to the "Journey Across Russia" exposition is free as part of guided
tours, which are organised by prior registration on the website russia.ru in
the "Events" section.
