Representatives of the expert groups made welcoming speeches to the participants of the event. One of them was Yuri Shchegolkov, director of the Foundation for the Development of Small Historical Cities, who noted "the importance and significance of tourism for the country."
"Tourism is an important story that concerns the country. In my line of work, I have traveled to 150 cities and all regions of Russia. I have been in the most amazing and the most 'crisis' places, in which, it would seem, there can be no tourism. And since childhood I have met people who believe that even the most difficult situation can be turned around. This is an idea that will move the world," said Yuri Shchegolkov.
Daria Smirnova, director for development of the autonomous non-profit organization of popularization of the idea of health and mutual help "ZOZH TEAM", executive director of JSC "Global Technological Transformation", director for development and training of the Regional Public Organization of Specialists and Engineers of Scientific and Technical Associations in the city of Moscow, noted the timeliness of initiatives to develop tourism potential in Russia.
"Now is the time when we should go forward and develop the tourism potential, the cultural and historical code of our state. You are representatives of your region and you know how to present and speak superbly about your land so that our fellow citizens and foreigners can feel Russia, understand it. I would like you to carry your knowledge to the public, so that they too can pass on the heritage we have from one to another!" noted Daria Smirnova.
This year the distance stage of the contest received more than two thousand applications from 89 regions of Russia and Tajikistan. After the introductory part, the participants together with the jury, divided into three teams, discussed the presented tourist projects, and members of expert groups asked questions and evaluated the performance of the contestants.
