"Journey Across Russia": each federal district with its own technologies and achievements
A large-scale exposition "Geography Lessons" is preparing to open at the National Centre RUSSIA — a journey through centuries along the maps of our country. Visitors will see cartographic treasures from the largest collections in Russia: historic atlases, city plans, expedition routes and military maps. The exposition will bring together eight thematic halls in one space. It will be a rare opportunity to see how perceptions of Russia have changed — from parchment to digital maps. Before the exposition opens, visitors are invited to explore the exposition "Journey Across Russia".
Across an area of more than three thousand square metres, visitors can travel from Vladivostok to Kaliningrad. The "Journey Across Russia" exposition presents all the federal districts of the country. Each section highlights achievements, nature, technologies and vivid visual images.
The Far Eastern Federal District introduces visitors to shipbuilding, aircraft construction and space exploration. Among the exhibits are models of ice-class vessels and spacecraft, the scents of the Ussuri taiga and a "living" Pacific Ocean installation.
The Siberian Federal District immerses visitors in the world of Lake Baikal through VR technologies and tells the story of a neutrino observatory that studies cosmic particles. In the Urals, together with the Mistress of the Copper Mountain, visitors can look into a marble quarry, see a collection of minerals and literally "descend underground" through light effects.
The Volga Federal District presents Innopolis and major IT projects. A robot guide introduces visitors to digital innovations, while a 5D KAMAZ simulator recreates the experience of a desert rally. The exposition of the Central Federal District focuses on cities of the future, medicine and nuclear research. The North Caucasus Federal District takes visitors to nature reserves and an astrophysical observatory. The Southern Federal District invites guests to cross the Crimean Bridge and visit Chersonese, while the North-Western Federal District leads to icebreakers, the Baltic coast and the marble cliffs of Ruskeala.
Interactive simulators, tactile exhibits, games, photo zones and the digital "Heart Zone", where visitors’ names turn into hearts flying across the walls with the final message "I love Russia", make "Journey Across Russia" not only educational but also a vivid and engaging route.
While the country awaits the opening of "Geography Lessons", the National Centre RUSSIA already invites visitors on a journey — along rivers, roads, cities and legends of contemporary Russia. Soon another perspective will be added to this living, three-dimensional story — a look at the country through maps that for centuries have shaped our understanding of the world and of ourselves.
