Rais Hussin: "AI cannot replace critical thinking"
Despite the advantages of artificial intelligence as a tool for obtaining information and processing data, it should be remembered that it is only a technology and must not replace human reasoning. The misuse or uncontrolled use of AI — for example in education — may lead students to stop thinking independently. This was stated by Dr Rais Hussin, CEO of EMIR Research, in the Open Dialogue podcast "OD on Air" with Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office of Russia, Maxim Oreshkin.
"I always teach my children critical thinking and encourage them to use artificial intelligence as a tool. By the way, all my children are half Russian, and I urge them to look to Russians and study Russian history. I also encourage them to reject the ‘couch culture’ of consuming burgers and fries. Critical thinking develops through reading, understanding, knowledge and clear perception. AI is only a tool. It cannot replace education, especially critical thinking. Otherwise we will turn into faceless masses," said Rais Hussin.
The podcast episode with the expert was recorded during the January Expert Dialogues, which are part of the Open Dialogue series of events. The initiative was launched by the National Centre RUSSIA in partnership with the Centre for Cross-Industry Expertise "Third Rome", with the support of the Presidential Executive Office of Russia.
